I have looked for days at all local home improvement stores, and couldn't find a box that will be FLUSH with my shingles siding.
Introducing the Arlington DBlah-blah-blah... Long name, but who cares - this is excellent quality! It is very deep (I have 2x6 construction so I had no problems with the depth) and can hold an extension cord plug completely inside with the hinged-door closed (completely weather-proof). Also, it is very, very good quality - I was afraid that driving the screws would crack it, but lo and behold, it actually got the box so nice and tight that I fixed my nasty bent-out-of-shape shingles in the process!
Highly recommended! I bought two more just in case I ever need them!

I recently bought a house, and wanted to install an outlet up high in my front porch gable for Christmas lights. An obvious requirement is that it remains weather resistant while in use - that rules out the old, flat Bell spring-hinged-cover outlets - but I also wanted it to be minimally noticeable - which puts me at odds with the typical newer outdoor outlets that have a large clear plastic hinged bubble cover that would stick out at least several inches from my siding.
This product is a perfect match for my needs. On my light blue aluminum siding, you only notice it if you're looking for it, and my roof doesn't have eaves that this can hide under.
My electrician commented that it's the best solution he's seen yet.
Lastly, this is a retrofit model, but Arlington makes several other models meant for new construction as well that accomodate siding, brick, stucco, etc.
