Customer Reviews
I've bought both the black and white (not available here) Liquid Tape. It is truly amazing stuff, and has save me a fortune in time and money. I used the white Liquid Tape to fix a MacBook cord that had been badly chewed in several places by a rabbit (long story). Replacing the MacBook adapter would have cost a fortune, but after the repair it was a good as new. Liquid Tape dries into a thick, flexible, rubbery, insulating material. I've since used the black Liquid Tape to repair microphone plugs, dousing the entire soldered joint area in Liquid Tape to create total isolation between the leads. After I screwed on the plastic end of the socket, I painted it and an inch or two of the light wire with Liquid Tape to create a flexible, strong strain-relief - as good as a molded plug. Finally, I've found it useful in tight AC spots, where I have painted over wirenuts instead of using black electrical tape - much more convenient in many applications.
I only have two complaints: 1) After shaking (and do it well), the internal brush is globbed with Liquid Tape, which can get everywhere. If you have a finer application (like my mic cords), you might want to use a separate brush. 2) It takes a little longer to dry than I'd like. For AC work, you need to let it dry thoroughly - often a few hours in my experience - prior to sealing up electrical boxes, etc.
There are other brands of this out there that I have not tried, but I bought this based on recommendation from someone else who swears by it. I have to agree. I have used this on several battery lead cables and other items where the insulation had broken off or was damaged. This stuff is really easy to apply with the built in brush (be sure to have the area clean of dirt first), and seals very well. It dries fairly quick.
