It's hard to tell from the photos but these in-line switches are NOT the small ones with the rotating thumb-wheels. They are heavier-duty and larger, with a rocker switch. Some might be put off by the more clunky size, and by the fact that you have to strip one of the wires, wrapping it around screw-posts inside the switch. But as I was replacing one of those cheap old thumb-wheel ones that had ceased functioning, I appreciated that this is the more solid version - so much so that I ordered several more, to be ready for when the other cheap thumb-wheel ones I have around to house also die.
This switch is exactly what I needed. It is much larger and more heavy duty than the lamp cord switches you'll find at Lowe's and Home Depot. I needed it to fit a standard household extension cord to operate small decorative lights. Household extension cords are larger than lamp cords and this switch being larger fit the need well. I've had it working now for a couple of months and it works great. When I wear this one out (if I do) then I will purchase another.
