From the Cooper website: USB Rating 700mA 5V/DC (or 5V .7A = ~3.5 watts).
The standard iPad charger is spec'd to pump out 5 volts at 2.1 amps (so 5V 2.1A = ~10 watts). This item works well with iPhones but iPads will charge only in sleep mode.

I purchased this to replace all of the end adapters needed just to hook up a usb cable to charge a devise. Sometimes the cube end wasn't attached to the usb cable, so I would now have to hunt for it. This makes it a whole lot easier. Instillation of the receptacle was very quick and easy. Will be purchasing a few more shortly to install in home office and in travel trailer.
